In Kibera/Nairobi, children with disabilities and their families live in difficult conditions: exclusion, poverty, and a lack of healthcare dominate their everyday lives. Therapy would be very important for the children's development and quality of life—but it is expensive and hardly accessible.

This is precisely where the Child Destiny Foundation has been working since 2013: with loving care and targeted occupational and physical therapy, we are counteracting this disadvantage and are already supporting more than 55 children in their development.

The Child Destiny Foundation The Child Destiny Foundation was founded in 2013 by parents of children with disabilities, because in Kibera, one of Africa's largest slums, there are virtually no therapy options.

What began with the courage of a few parents has grown into a professionally run day and therapy center, where more than 50 children with disabilities are supported individually every day. Depending on their diagnosis and needs, each child receives a personalized therapy plan that may include manual therapy, positioning techniques, grasp training, or sessions in our specially equippedSensory Room„.

In addition to therapeutic support, our center also provides structured day care, warm meals, and space to play, learn, and grow.

As a therapist, you can now become a therapy sponsor and help provide treatment exactly where it is needed most.

BRIAN’S THERAPY SUCCESS

Brian was born in 2017 and joined the Child Destiny Foundation when he was about one year old. At that time, he was unable to roll over independently from his back to his stomach or vice versa—a milestone that comes naturally to many children but posed a great challenge for him. With patience, targeted physiotherapy, and loving support, he gradually learned to sit, grasp, and eventually walk.

Today, Brian moves confidently around the room, plays with a ball, and can quickly turn around and start running again. An important part of his development has also been the support of his mother, Lydia. Since 2019, she has been a full-time caregiver and part of our team. Through her work at the center, she earns her own income, enabling her to provide for herself and her son while also offering other children the same loving care that Brian receives every day.
